Donald J. Trump will be the 45th president of the United States. In an unpredictable victory, republican candidate Trump won the necessary 270 electoral votes.

How? States that usually swing left turned red over night. An example being Michigan, which hasn’t voted republican since the 1980’s.

Many are certain Trump is a perfect fit to run the United States. His supporters truly feel he will “Make America Great Again.”

“I think that people are going to be happy about 45th president,” senior Jack Vohs said. “I know I am.”

However, Trump’s upcoming presidency has left many uncertain for the future of the country. This was reflected heavily in the popular vote, that was actually won by his opponent, Hillary Clinton.

“The America that I want to be a part is not the America that Trump is promoting,” senior Angel Augustitus-Bell said. “It makes me sad that he will be our leader and represent us, because his ideals do not represent a lot of Americans, including myself.”

Trump, with little political experience, will have an interesting presidency. The progression will likely be the main focus of the media for the next four years.

Clinton conceded to Trump and ended her historic campaign, as the first female nominee to a major party for president. The hard-fought campaign ended on uneasy terms, as protests have began around the country.

Trump supporters celebrated a comeback victory, rivaled to that of a “Rocky” movie.

“Everyone said Trump’s rust belt strategy wouldn’t work in the election,” Vohs said. “I think he won because of how President Obama increased the debt.”

Trump, as divisive as a candidate he was, now has the enormous task of fixing a broken electorate, one that currently distrusts government, and hopes that an outsider like Trump can fix.

For now, the White House is preparing for a new president.

“We need to keep an open mind,” Vohs said. “I think people will be happy.”
