School cancelled March 8

UCS closes schools in anticipation of large number of Presidental primary voters

As a result of a special presidential primary being scheduled by the State of Michigan, there will be no school for all Utica Community Schools K-12 students on Tuesday, March 8.

“I’m glad there’s no school that day,” senior Troy Donovan said. “I need to vote; it’s my right.”

It is anticipated that the primary will have a higher than normal expected voter turnout, and 28 of the district’s 36 schools serve as voting precincts.

Parents will receive information directly from coaches regarding any impact to co-curricular activities.
