LEGO is a very popular toy that many kids played with growing up. The name ‘LEGO’ is an abbreviation of the two Danish words “leg godt”, meaning “play well”. The LEGO Group was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen. The company has passed from father to son and is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder. Legos have been gaining even more popularity in recent years, it is now being enjoyed by people of all ages. Having a little something for everyone has significantly contributed to the Legos’ sudden popularity spike.
Lego has recently created flower bouquet sets. These are Utica High student’s thoughts on them.
“I think that Lego flowers are amazing. It takes the work out of caring for a plant and they last forever which makes them a good gift for friends or girlfriends,” senior Isiah Smith said. “They won’t go away like normal flowers. Yes, it’s a little more expensive than just buying normal flowers but it’s worth the cost.”
Students also enjoy the aspect of forever living flowers.
“In my opinion the Lego flowers are super cute. It is very nice that they won’t die like normal flowers,” senior Molly Collette said. “It’s also fun to have the experience of building it and seeing your work around your house.”
“The Lego flowers are nice because they will always be there unlike normal flowers that will die eventually,” junior Sydni Krumm said.
“Lego flowers really have so much texture and detail put into them that they almost look real,” senior Allison Polk said.
“I really think that Legos are amazing. It gives you something to do and gives you a display to see every day. I would personally like to have Lego flowers over real flowers because they are everlasting. It brings everything together and can be used as a nice centerpiece to a table or counter,” senior Lizareli Gomez said. “Although Legos are on the more expensive side they are very intricate, and many different sets reach for many age ranges which is nice. I’d say that my favorite Lego set is the typewriter set, I love the look.”
Legos have become a special activity for many people for a long time. People collect multiple sets of Legos ranging from Star Wars, flowers, bonsai trees, castles, and more. Building these sets with friends or family is a good way to bond with people and have a good time.
junior Hailey Daubert’s love for Legos began with a small set that her dad asked her to build with him. “My love for Legos began with a small set that my dad asked me to build with him. It may have only taken 25 minutes, but we had such a blast building it that he decided to purchase more,” junior Hailey Daubert said. “It eventually became almost an everyday thing. Eventually, that small set led to shelves upon shelves of memories. I can’t imagine how much was spent on all our Lego sets combined,”
“Legos are something unique to decorate your room, house, etc,” senior Jaden Watchmaker said. “Although I’m not into Legos, I will admit that I think they can be cool.”
for others, Legos was just a way to create something fun from a small age.
“I like the idea of having more Legos catering to both teens and adults, I think it’s a fun way to show creativity plus it’s fun for all ages. Even my mom builds Lego sets. I started using Legos when I was around five or six years old,” senior Ani Quartuccio said. “I like how easy it is to focus on building with Legos and how creative you can get with them. They also make great gifts for a significant other, child, a friend, or a family member.”
” The new Lego sets are nice, they are a good decoration, I’ve been playing with Legos forever,” sophomore Kiersten Meyers said, “I have always loved Legos and all of the amazing things that you can build with them.”
“I started using Legos around second grade and I liked that I could creatively express myself and build what I chose. I could express myself without having to put much effort into it,” senior Sawyer Sobak said. “It was also nice that you could easily change what you were going to build.”
Legos have clearly had a special place in people’s hearts for many years. Lego has made new items that contributed to a wider variety of interests allowing many people young and old to find an interest for them. From bonding with people while building them or even building Lego sets that pertain to your interests. Legos are a fantastic hobby, or toy.
