HOSA heads to regionals

HOSA(Health Occupations Students of America) recently went to the regional conference on Feb. 4th, at Fraser High School. Many HOSA students have been preparing for this event for a long time. Utica had 99 students compete in the regional conference this year.

The regional conference was filled a lot of competition, as their were over 1200 high school competitors coming from both Macomb and Oakland counties. Of Utica’s 99 students who competed, 84 students placed top 10, and 37 students placed top 5 in their respective events.

HOSA provides students with many skills for their future jobs.”HOSA has helped me so much,” sophomore Michelle Nabozny said. “It’s helped me experience how the medical field is in the real life.”

The students who’ve made states have a huge opportunity in front of them. If they are able to make it through states, they will be heading to Walt Disney World in Florida to compete at nationals.

“I am very excited to be attending HOSA States again.” senior Calista Esterline said. “It’s a very fun and unique experience.”

HOSA has helped many with their future endeavors. “It has helped me because I want to get a job in the medical field,” sophomore Isabella Chirco said. “Most jobs require us to know what we do in HOSA, so it helps a ton.”
