Preparing for the season

Girl’s varsity basketball get ready for next season

The girls varsity basketball team are ready to make a Kansas City Chiefs turnaround in the current 2016 season. The team is currently 1-4 on the season. They fought hard in the battle against  Utica Ford and Romeo High School, the final score ending in both games 35-37.

The team’s strong point is defense and they plan to upgrade the offense and perfect the defense.

“The seniors are going to have to lead and be the tone setters,” coach Tom McDonald said.

The team is based off friendship and chemistry, and that’s what’s going to hold the team together. There are some big games coming up for the girls; they play Eisenhower High School Jan. 26 and have a cancer game coming up too.

“It gives the team a sense of pride knowing we are not only playing for each other, but also for the person listed on the back of the jerseys,” McDonald said.

Expect to see some very exciting games for the rest of the varsity girls season.

“In order to get back track,” junior Julia Candela said, “we need go back to last year’s game plan, keep up the defense and work harder on offense.”
