Although the dance team season may have just ended at the beginning of February, dance team has already started preparations for next year’s season. The team recently announced when they will be hosting tryouts along with a parent meeting and what to expect at these tryouts.

On March 27, there will be an informational parent meeting where the coaches will go over general information about what the team is and what is to be expected of the new season. This will be held in room 159 at six pm.

“Coach Carly and I will discuss the basic guidelines and commonly asked questions,” coach Katie Droope said. “This meeting is a crucial step to the tryout process, it is very important all dancers and their families understand the expectations of this ten month commitment.”

Finally, on April 9, 11, 13, tryouts for the season will be held where they will learn a jazz and pom routine along with showing technique across the floor and a mini interview. The dancers will be observed by a panel of judges on the last day of tryouts. The panel will include: dance studio owners, choreographers, and other local members of the dance community.

“Tryouts are all about showing who you are to the coaches and other team members,” junior Colleen Roberts said. “being on this team is so much fun because you’re surrounded by people who are just as passionate about dance as you are.”

The team ended last year’s season with a tenth place win at their first nationals participation in about a decade and are very optimistic for what the future season will bring.

“Coming off of a truly groundbreaking season last year,” Droope said, “we are really looking for dancers who are passionate about dance and exude a positive, driven energy.”
