Aside from No Way Home, another highly anticipated movie arriving to theaters on January 14 is Scream 5. The movie is a sequel to the 1996 original by the name same and featuring a majority of the same cast.
This month also features action-packed spy movies like The 355 that was released on January 7 in theaters worldwide.
And on January 30, The Beatles; Get Back: The Rooftop Concert, a Beatles concert movie, gets released in theaters in IMAX for 1 day only.
Next up on the list of upcoming movies is Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. The fifth movie to the franchise arrives in theaters on January 14 worldwide and features Andy Samberg as Johnny, Brian Hull as Dracula, and Selena Gomez as Mavis, Dracula’s daughter.
And to start off New Years Day, the highly anticipated Harry Potter reunion movie, Return To Hogwarts, debuted on HBO Max for its 20th anniversary. The reunion special features Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and the rest of the cast talking about good memories on set and behind-the-scenes secrets.
Aside from big screen releases, this year also had new movies arrive on streaming services this month. One example of this is the new big-budget movie to the Marvel universe called Eternals that originally released on November 5, 2021. The film was released on Disney+ on January 12.
The popular romance-drama film, After We Fell, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford is the third film to the Wattpad-original franchise and was released in theaters in the US on September 1, 2021. The film made its Netflix debut on January 17 for all the After fans that want to see more of Tessa’s and Hardin’s complicated relationship.
Out of all the movies this month, a few students had the same movie interests.
“My favorite movie was Encanto,” junior Kadence Huard said. “Because of the music and message behind the movie.”
Another student liked Encanto too, but for a more personal reason.
“I would have to say my favorite movie would be, even though I am aware it came out in December, Encanto.” senior Ashley Gazaway said. “The music, The dancing, the flow of it all was so beautiful and really tugged at the families heart strings, really tied the movie together.”
But, Marvel has taken the win.
“My favorite movie is Spider-Man: No Way Home.” sophomore Bella Lulgarugj said. “Because I like Marvel movies.”
With all these exciting variety of films coming this month, movie-lovers definitely won’t be bored if they are stuck inside. From 355 to Scream to After We Fell, there’s lots of amazing movies you can watch this new year for an epic movie night.
