Utica’s Varsity soccer team played their final game against Lake Orion on Oct 19. The final score of the game was 2-1, as Utica’s team lost in Penalty kicks.

“I was disappointed in the season,” junior Gabriel Capelj said, “We were a good team, and we could have won more games and possibly gone further in districts.”

Utica did go to districts this year, but they lost their first game ending their season early. They finished the season with a record of eight wins, four losses, and five ties.

“I was happy with how the season went,” junior Josh Price said, “I wish we could have gone further than what we did but, we played good as a team and improved every day, and hopefully we get better next year.”

Some players on Utica’s team are already looking forward to next year, in hopes of trying to improve and make it further in the playoffs next season.

“I was disappointed with how the season ended,” junior Marcello Piazza said, “But I am very excited for next year.”

Although the season did not end the way they wanted it specifically, having this kind of positive outlook is important. Being able to strive for a better season next time around is the attitude needed for improvement. Overall, the Utica High School soccer team had a great season with wins overpowering the losses.
