It is that time of year, seniors are preparing for graduation and thinking about starting college life. Before applying, many students find benefit in visiting colleges they are considering. Students want to see if they will fit in and if the college they are interested in will have everything they need to be successful in their post high school endeavors.

Senior Ashlin Hurry tells what her favorite part of her college visit is.

“I visited Lord University in Sylvania, Ohio,” senior Hurry said. “The best part was getting to meet the teachers, so when I go back, I’ll already know them.”

Other students were excited about what they saw while on their tour.

“I’m studying either teaching early elementary or nursing at Oakland University,” senior Gina Lobaito said. “They had a Panda express in the food court which I cannot wait for.”

Students also mentioned how impressed they were by the dorms.

“When I visited Wayne State I was impressed by the new dorms,” senior Megan Zamora said. “They were roomy, had nice bathrooms, and over all super decent. I can’t wait to stay on campus.”

Senior Hector Marteniz talks about how he visited two colleges.

“I visited both Wayne State and Western,” Marteniz said. “I liked them both a lot, but Western has a very beautiful campus and the program I want to go into which is Aviation, so I decided to go there.”

Oakland University provides studies in other countries that students are interested in.

“The programs at Oakland are the best part,” senior Sara Sotelo said. “I thought it was pretty cool once I found out you can study in another country. If I were to do that, I would go to China because of the beautiful culture, and learning another language.”

Senior Landon Drew discusses which colleges he visited liked the most.

“I visited Central Michigan, Grand Valley, Saginaw and Oakland,” senior Landon Drew said. “Out of all of those colleges Central Michigan caught my Attention. I’m not sure if I plan on going yet, it’s still a big decision to make.”

Senior Tyler Watford explains the astounding library at University of South Carolina.

“Their Library really interests me a lot,” Watford said. “They have a seven-story library that’s all underground so it extremely quite once you get down the lower levels.”

Seniors Bradley Beauvais and Daniela Cesario explain why starting college is exciting.

“I already applied so I am eager to start fresh,” Cesario said. “It’s going to be cool to see all the real-world experience that we will have outside of high school.”

“Even though I have not applied yet I’m thrilled,” Beauvais said. ” I get to move out of my parents’ house and start becoming an adult.

Assistant principal Olsen talks about why it’s important to do college visits.

“I think visits to college are campuses incredibly important,” assistant principal Olsen said.” it’s the best way to get a feel weather that college is a good fit for you, so we always excuse those absents for students when they bring back something that proves they went to a visit.”

Senior Gabriela Wolyniec explains her emotions when she got into the college she visited and applied to.

“I applied and got into Central University,” senior Wolyniec said. “I was ecstatic when I saw I got in. I’m going to study to be an Oncologist which I’m excited for because the medical program is really good, and they have nice labs. I can’t wait to go and meet new people.”

Seniors Alyssa Carlson and Brynn Wegner tell why they’re excited to go to college with their family members.

“I applied and visited Macomb community college,” Wegner said.” I’m both nervous and excited but more excited because my sister is there so it takes some of my stress away.”

“I thought Michigan state’s campus was really pretty,” Carlson said. “I plan on studying biology there like my sister and can’t wait to see her and study what I love most.”

What students have been preparing the last four years for is finally being put into motion. Many students are excited, nervous, and ready to start their new journey.
