The Detroit Lions season kicked off on Sept. 7. They faced the Kansas City Chiefs, picking up the win with a final score of 21-20. Now, 11 weeks into the season, their record is eight wins and two losses. With a big time, game coming up vs the Green Bay Packers.
“I’m going to the Lions vs Packers game,” senior Matthew Hanoush said. “I am very excited to go and hopefully we get the win to improve to nine and two.”
The Lions play on Thanksgiving Day, vs big time rival Green Bay Packers. This game will be different than many years, as the Packers former QB, Hall of famer Aaron Rodgers was traded in the offseason to the New York Jets.
“We are in a good position at eight wins and two losses,” senior Gabriel Capelj said, “but this game feels like a must win on Thanksgiving vs a big-time rival.”
The Lions defeated the Packers earlier this season in week three, with a final score of 34-20. The Lions dominated the game from start to finish and kept the game non-competitive.
“I think the way were playing this season, we can make it far in the playoffs and possibly make it to the super bowl,” senior Chris Dickow said, “but it could be tough if we don’t have home field advantage throughout the whole playoffs.”
After the Packers game, the Lions are playing two straight road games, versus the New Orleans Saints, and then division rival Chicago bears. The Lions have beat the Bears three straight games, looking to keep that streak going, and a sweep in the 2023-2024 season.
“If we win three or four more games,” Dickow said, “We will likely clinch a playoff spot and get a home playoff game at Ford Field.”
