Varsity Volleyball Ends Their Season

Varsity volleyball has recently come to an end. The team showed great amount of athleticism and team work. The end of the season ended in a loss in the second round of districts against Chippewa Valley High school. They had a tough season with their ending record 18-21.

“It was tough, Chippewa was 30 in 6,” Principal Timothy Youngblood said. ” I still think we are the better team.”

This years team was very experienced with five seniors making up the team out of thirteen. One of the starting seniors Ella Rusk, is in her third year playing on varsity and her sixth year total playing volleyball. She enjoyed her last season despite the downs and took on a leadership role for the underclassmen.

“I think we had a strong season with a lot of improvement,” Rusk said. “I keep working to improve and be a role model for the younger girls.”

The varsity volleyball team had a great coach to lead them all the way to districts. Putting in many hours of coaching and practicing. In the beginning, it was difficult to figure out the hurdles they had to overcome and finding solutions to those problems that had occurred.

“The season went great, we had quite a few set backs at the beginning of the year, including many injuries and transfers,” teacher and coach Jeffery Lapratt said. “Even after that we rose above all and competed really well.”

This is junior Brooklyn LeMerise first season playing varsity volleyball, but she is not new to the sport as she has been playing volleyball since the seventh grade. She played the best she could this season and is looking forward to next years season.

“The season went as best as we could,” LeMerise said. “Improvements were needed in some areas, but overall I think we played our best.”

Despite their losses, the girls tried their best and gave it their all. The season had many ups and downs, but the team powered through everything. The team went through many challenges, having a lot of their teams members out for the season due to injuries is a hardship that they had to push through, along with the transferring of many of the players as well. On top of that they had many hard teams that they had to go up against, they tried there best, and had a great volleyball season. Many of them will be returning next year to beat this years record.
