The girls Utica Jv Dance team participated in their first Dance Competiton of the year on November 11. They placed 4th in pom, and 6th in Jaz.
“I wasn’t nervous because I like performing,” sophomore Chloe Karaffa said.
This was their first competition and a great start to their season.
“One of my teams’ weaknesses is strength through movement, but we are getting better at it,” sophomore Chloe Karaffa said.
“One thing my team could have done better was projecting up more, because the judges are high up”. ” I also think we could have been more confident before going on stage,” freshman Mia Barker said.
“I think my team did good especially since it was our first competition, and it was a good start to the season,” Barker said.
“My favorite part of the whole competition was practicing beforehand, and being out there on stage,” freshman Mia Barker said.
On the Instagram page for Utica jv Dance the coach said, “We had a great first competition yesterday. We are beyond proud of our team and are so excited for the rest of our competition season.”
The competition they participated in was the Great Lakes Dance Challenge.
The girls on the jv dance team include freshmen Annie Karrandoja, Mia Barker, Natalie Kay, Presley Orlowski sophomore Sofia Freitas, Chloe Karaffa, Jordan Cleaver, and Bella Camaj.
“I think my team has improved on our drill turns and changes and will be better by next competition,” sophomore Sofia Freitas said.
“I think my team did bad on doing tricks, and our second turn, but I think we did good as a team,” sophomore Sofia Freitas said.
The next competition will be Sunday December third. The girls are confident they have improved since the Great Lakes Dance Competiton and are excited to perform.
“I think my team did pretty good in the competition, I think me as a dancer could improve on my stamina,” sophomore Jordan Cleaver said.
The Jv Dance team had many fun practices to get ready for their competition. For Halloween they dressed as old lady’s. They also dressed up as soccer moms and barbecue dads.
They also dressed in a white t-shirt and wrote something they do the opposite of. Bella wore a shirt that says she is always paying attention, but she actually does the opposite.
Not only were these themed practices fun, but they were also great for team bonding. It allowed them to have fun and work hard at the same time.
