Wrestling is taking it to the mats this season

The wrestling team is on a turning point in their program and season. They have two returning seniors that are supposed to have remarkable seasons, seniors Nick Mason and Ethan Culberson. Mason is supposed to go to state qualifiers and Culberson is supposed to go to regional qualifiers.

“I feel my chances going to states this year are good,” Mason said. “I made it to states last year and I’m working harder this year.”

A twist to this season is having new sophomores, who have never wrestled before, mixing in with the experienced seniors.

“Playing with the seniors have given me a lot to learn from,” sophomore Lucas Youno said.

The wrestling program is going to hold a wrestling club from ages 8-14 to help future young chieftain wrestlers get a head start. A new assistant coach named Berg, has been hired to give another perspective of teaching.

“Watching the seniors do as good as their doing and watching the younger guys getting better, is something to watch,” coach Clinton Davis said.
