When most girls think about homecoming, they traditionally visualize themselves in a short dress. However, wearing a long dress is much prettier and more aesthetically pleasing than wearing a short dress.
Wearing long dresses is a tradition for upperclassmen. A long dress signifies how much progress you have made in your journey through high school. When you are a junior or senior in high school you should look better than you did your sophomore year. A long dress can signify that because long dresses are significantly more formal and classic than short dresses.
There is much more of a variety to choose from when considering long dresses. Having a trail or tail opens up more options like high-low dresses, mermaid dresses, and longer open backs. There is also more opportunity for design considering the extra fabric.
Long dresses also photograph better. In every picture the long dresses look like they naturally flow and sit nicely by the ankles.
Long dresses also look good when they are tight, puffy, or flowy. Short dresses can not be flowy because of the lack of length and fabric. Short dresses also do not look as good when they are puffy because there is less room for a tighter, snatching, waistline to be sown in.
Short dress also cause for more accidents. Short dresses are more likely to roll up or slip causing a wardrobe malfunction. I personally do not want to have a problem with my dress in front of everyone at the dance. Long dresses are just much more secure.
Your homecoming dresses are some of the most important dresses you will own. Everyone should choose their dress wisely because, looking back at the past, you will want to remember your high school look as put together and clean. Long dresses are perfect for a classy, timeless look.
