March madness is a college basketball tournament with 68 teams trying to win the National Championship. The tournament started March 21st and completed on April 8th. The final two teams were UConn with a record of 37-3 and Purdue with a record of 34-5, with UConn beating them with a final score of 75-60.
“I liked the championship game,” senior Gevario Habbo said. “It was a blowout, but both teams star players had a very good final game before entering the NBA draft.”
UConn came into the tournament as the favorites to win it all and did. Most of their players were seniors and are headed to the NBA draft, to see if they can make an impact in the NBA.
“I think Zach Edey from Purdue will make the NBA and have a big impact,” sophomore Thomas Kesto said. “He will join a team and put-up good stats.”
UConn center Donavon Clingan is projected to be a top five pick in the NBA draft as well, along with his teammate Stephon Castle who is projected to be a top 10 pick. Castle plays point guard.
“Stephon Castle will have a bigger impact than Donavon Clingan and Zach Edey,” senior Chris Dickow said. “I think he will be a superstar in the NBA, and help a team make the finals.”
On the woman’s side of the tournament, South Carolina with a record of 39-0 defeated Iowa who had a record of 34-6. The womans tournament averaged more viewers than the men’s this year for the first time ever. Catilin Clark, who broke many records in college, declared for the draft and was drafted First by the Indiana Fever.
“She broke many of NBA legends records in college, “Kesto said. “She is one of the best basketball players in the world at the moment, and she inspires many basketball players continue to work hard.”
The womans tournament broke all viewership records surpassing the men’s this year. This was mainly due to senior Catilin Clark who was recently drafted into the WNBA, and she will be a must watch every game she plays.
