Future Focus had four stations that consisted of a professional picture, career polaroid pictures, 5-year goal bracelets and “Where Are You Going After High School?” station, which students take a graduation sticker and place it wherever they want to go post high school.
“There were many options for jobs on the prop table,” senior Olivia Morgan said. “Also, the station that you pick where you want to go after high school enlightens kids of their choices.”
There was a photo station that takes your photo and with that you can use it for job sites.
“I think it’s important,” junior Kaylee Marsh said. “If you aren’t viewed as professional, they won’t take you seriously and jobs won’t rely on you.”
Career pictures had equipment that had a doctor coat, firefighter hat, lawyer’s gavel, library books, real estate agent “FOR SALE” sign. Students dress up and stand in front of a decorated screen, taking a polaroid picture. This was a fun way to get students invested in their future career while also having a nice memory.
The 5-year station consisted of orange bands, and you wrote your 5-year goal on them. This station was to inspire students to manifest their dreams and aspirations.
“It was fun,” junior Juliana Hebeka said. “The bracelet station is a good memory to have and to look back and see if you achieved your goal.”
This event acknowledges the many careers and students have a chance to embody the aspects of adulthood. It also helped students who weren’t sure of a career path.
