But the action extended beyond the final whistle as a heated post-game altercation overshadowed Michigan’s underdog win.
The Wolverines relied on key plays on the offense, and their determined defense helped them win the game. Running back Kalel Mullings scored Michigan’s single touchdown with a one-yard rush early in the second quarter, while kicker Dominic Zvada contributed with two clutch field goals, including a game-winning 21-yarder in the final minute. Ohio State was most definitely favored to win as they were ranked number 2 overall. This game proved to us that not only can the unexpected happen, but with a little determination and perseverance you can prove to people rank is just a number just like Michigan did.
“I think OSU needs to learn how to lose,” Junior Brayden Lemley said, “and shouldn’t try to fight people after the game.” Tensions rose high after the game. As Michigan players celebrated at the center of the field on the Ohio State O. Soon, the Michigan players planted their flag in the O, and that is when the full out brawl took place. Many Ohio State players were fuming and were punching, shoving, and doing all kinds of things to get the Michigan players out of their home. It got to a point where pepper spray was used on players to stop the feud. People wonder who is at fault.
“Yes, that is their home,” Junior Jaylen Gary said, “and they got to protect it no matter what.” Some people say Michigan should be at fault and some say the other. Jaylen believes that because Michigan disrespected them Ohio State has the right to fight back. Protecting what belongs to you is something we all do, and Ohio State can argue that they were just defending the home that is precious to them.
With the stands now empty, the fighting now over, and the field now peaceful and quiet. The game everyone was looking forward to has been delivered. With the Michigan Wolverines officially beating the ranked 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in a wild underdog story. The history books will forever show the crazy game between the Michigan Wolverines, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
