Junior Sam Narusch broke the school record in the high jump with an impressive mark of 6’6.25″.

Utica boys’ track finished the 2017 regular season with a 4-1 record in the MAC White division.

“I think the season is going really well so far. It’s been really fun, like every year,” senior Gabe Garbarino said. “I am going to miss it a lot when I graduate.”

Track might not seem like the most team-based sport, but each runner builds camaraderie with others around them. This is especially true if track members have been running with the same people for all 4 seasons, like Garbarino.

This season, however, made history. The school record was set in the high jump by junior Sam Narusch. He set the new record with a mark of 6’6.25″.

“I was super excited and I really hope I can carry this momentum over to the next few meets,” Narusch said.

Narusch will go into the postseason as one of the top jumpers in the state.

“I am really proud of all the guys this year, both first-year and fourth-year runners,” head coach Megan Berry said. “I think it was overall a very successful regular season.”
