Playing a high school sport is an achievement in it’s own, but having such a competitve nature to get into Districts is an even bigger accomplishment, especially for the Chieftan’s varsity boys basketball team.

Playoffs in any sport are always exciting, but the boys were especially pumped for this years postseason

“I love playoffs because it’s competitive and there’s a good audience” said senior Andrea Pjetri.

During the first district game the boys fought hard and came down to the wire, but the Chieftan’s pulled off the one point win with the final score of 49-48, beating Stoney.

“It felt really nice to move on,” senior Jacob Joseph said. “The atmosphere was great and it was just overall a great team win.”

During the season all the boys found different things enjoyable. Junior Nik Gjonaj likes games the best.

“I like games the most because it gets hype once the whole crowd gets there” Said Gjonaj.

The boys all have their own way of getting ready for games during the season.

“Before games I usually listen to music in the locker room with my friends to get us pumped up” Pjetri said.

After defeating Stoney Creek, the boys advanced to districts where they faced Troy high school. This was a very big and exciting game for the Chieftains.

Unfortunately the boys lost to Troy by a score of 61-51. This, however did not stop them from being proud of their season

“Reflecting back onto the season, I’m just looking back on all the good times and memories with my teammates” Joseph said, “this season has brought us closer together and it was one that I will never forget.”
