Since 2025 has started, it’s time for fashion trend predictions! What could be the next leopard print pattern or baby milk nails of this next year? Rumors have stirred around that dragon and zebra print are upcoming, also red cherry nail polish.
Fashion trends shape our identities and how we like to express ourselves. Whether it’s looking comfortable with pajamas and slippers or rocking a leather jacket and heels, fashion is an all-around statement that Utica students participate in.
“I have seen leopard print come back so far and cherry elements are getting really popular.” junior Nikolina Anceski said. “The 2000’s and 2010’s are making a comeback.”
In contrast to these uprising trends, a trend of decades is also coming into 2025. From the 70’s jeans and vibrant colors to the alternative fashions of 2010’s. Fashion trends have a way of coming back, even if it’s the smallest fashion pieces such as bamboo earrings from the 90’s, miniskirts from the mid 60’s, leather jackets from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Of course, there’s also the consistent streak of sneakers game.
“70s jeans are back, proving that true style never fades.” said Officer James Knobelsdorf.
Furthermore, noticing that in past years, students had a more maximalist style i the 1980’s through 2010s. The new outlook approach in the 2020s is to look more minimalistic with pajama pants and oversized tops with simple jewelry!
There has been a noticeable number of students indulging in Uggs Tasman’s, Essential hoodies, sweatpants and New Balances. Staple pieces are becoming the rage with the socioeconomic climate of the world. Fast fashion has been thrown to the side as
“Clothing trends come and go,” said Carmen Wilder, “but essential hoodies remain a favorite—comfortable, stylish, and the go-to hoodie for fashion.”
On the other hand, there could’ve been a noticeable drop in colored clothing. Most kids wear darker color palettes like black, brown, gray with the exception of white clothing too. Will we see a more diverse color palette in 2025? What would be the signature color this year?
“Students are bringing the past to the present, embracing the same trends their parents once wore,” said Mr. Kaczmarczyk.
In social media news, kitten heels might be the new style instead of platforms heels this year, hair accessories like bows or stars decorated on all types of hair, designer cardigans over slim shirts. Also, fur coats for colder weather! Faux fur coats have been the rage as they have been being sold cheap at Targets and Walmart.
The year 2025’s fashion future is being predicted by Utica students and the understanding timeline of fashion trends.
