The 2017 Utica High Teacher of the Year has a new accolade to add to her resumé.

Spanish teacher Julie Wright has won the Michigan Lottery’s Teacher of the Week competition.

As part of her winnings, she received a $1,500 check for herself, a $500 check for the school for any purpose of her choosing, and a featured spot on local TV stations throughout the state of Michigan.

“It’s incredible,” principal Tom Lietz said.

Wright visited the FOX 47 TV station in Lansing on Tuesday, Feb. 27 to tape her segment, which will air on WXYZ Channel 7 on Thursday, April 26 at 5 p.m. Her Teacher of the Week TV spot will also be able to be viewed across the state of Michigan throughout the week.

As one of 34 Michigan Lottery Teacher of the Week winners, Wright will have the opportunity to win $10,000 and be named the Teacher of the Year.
