This year, Utica High School was ranked second best public school in county in 2025 by Niche. The ranking is based on an analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along as test scores, college data, and millions of ratings from students and parents who have attended the school. Based on the ranking, UHS received a B+ in academics, B in diversity, A in teachers, B in college prep, B+ in clubs and activities, and an A- in administration, receiving an overall A- grade for the school.
“Our focus has been on the culture, with the seven grandfathers, taking care of each other,” principal Timothy Youngblood said. “The teachers and academic achievement have been great.”
In addition to this ranking, Niche recorded student polls reporting that: 78% of students and parents agreed that the teachers genuinely care about their students; 96% agreed that UHS offers plenty of clubs and organizations.
“It makes me very proud as a teacher to be a part of the Utica legacy.” teacher Holly Yucha said. “We love our students, and we’re rooting for them, we want them to be successful all the time, that’s what I think makes us stand out.”
This ranking reflects Utica’s legacy of great teachers who care for their student’s success. Youngblood further explains his goals for the school.
“Our goal is to give our best effort on the SAT,” Youngblood said. “As well as our community feeling, wellness and attitude.”
