Halloween is a commonly celebrated holiday. It is a holiday where people can dress up and present themselves in different ways, which is why everyone celebrates it differently.
For example, sophomore Abigail LaRue celebrates Halloween casually. LaRue, along with her family, puts up a bunch of Halloween decorations and hosts a party every year.
“Halloween has changed for me,” LaRue said. “I’m normally with my friend, McKenzie Boyd, instead of with my siblings on Halloween nights. I don’t ever wear a costume to school.”
Although Halloween is not celebrated by everyone, there are other holidays celebrated in October. Día de los Muertos is a holiday that is celebrated in October for a different purpose: celebrating the lives of those who have passed.
“I don’t celebrate Halloween,” sophomore Abigail Agustin said. “But, I’m interested in it. I celebrate Dia de los Muertos. I love the food and eating flan and tortillas with meat.”
Halloween has one purpose: to let those who celebrate it, celebrate it in their own way. Halloween is not limited to trick-or-treating; there is so much more to it than that.
