Senior Baylie Cloud held the first Fashion Club meeting in Stacy Konnie’s room after school on Nov. 11. Cloud created the club to help students build confidence and style, targeted towards people who may be shy or want to learn how to model. Flyers were posted in the hallways, which led students to wonder what motivated her to start a fashion club.
“I made this club because we don’t have any type of fashion or modeling class nor club at Utica,” said Cloud. “So, I wanted to make one to show confidence and to give people a space to be themselves.”
With Cloud creating this club, senior Hayden Kindred is helping with the meetings and leading alongside her. Kindred has her plan to help assist for the club.

“I plan on helping students express themselves through clothes, teaching them simple modeling poses, and creating a fun club where everyone feels welcome,” Kindred said.
At the first meeting, Cloud and Kindred presented a PowerPoint showing members of the club what they hope to do, future activities, and new ideas. The club is working on getting shirts and having a photographer come in and take pictures for their social media (@fashion.modeling_club). Fashion Club is helping students feel confident and creative, giving them a place to express themselves. With so many good ideas and more students hearing about it, the club is expected to keep growing.
